Healthcare Reform
Small Business Tax Credit
Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act small businesses that choose to provide health insurance could be eligible for a credit toward their cost of the insurance. To be eligible, small employers would have to contribute at least 50% of the cost of premiums of a qualified health plan. A small business with 10 or fewer full-time employees with average taxable wages of $25,000 or less could claim the full credit. A tiered credit is available for small employers with 11-25 full-time employees with workers making up to $50,000 annually.
